We’re having a Spring social dinner & fundraiser night at Senor Grubby’s this Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Senor Grubby’s is located on Carlsbad Village Drive near State street.  Please come and have a drink or drinks and some tasty food during this time.  Our club will receive 20% of all sales (including drinks) from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  This includes all “takeout” orders too.  We’ll have a couple of silent auction items there.  Pass the word to your friends & share it on your social media sites. Optimist Club Hosts Prospective Eagle Scout – Nate Nash

On Saturday, August 19, we welcomed Nate Nash from a local Boy Scout troop today to discuss his Eagle Scout project.  He plans on building a gaga ball pit at St. Patrick’s School.  His estimated cost for the project is $1600 with a completion date of Sept. 4th, so the students will be able to enjoy this on their 1st day of school.


Optimists Host Milestone House and Induct New Member

On October 22, the Optimist Club of Carlsbad hosted guest speaker Beverly Boone, Executive Director of Milestone House.  Milestone House, which is celebrating 25 years in operation next year, is a foster home for at-risk teen girls located in Oceanside, CA.  They are always looking for donations of:  gently-used clothing, shoes, and accessories for teen girls; sheet music; magazines; books; board games; musical instruments; and supermarket gift cards.  Please contact Beverly for more information:   beverly@milestonehouse.org  Beverly authored a booked titled Basic Training for Residential Childcare Workers:  A practical Guide for Improving Service to Children, published in 2012.

The club also inducted new member Paul Kelly, who divides his time between his homes in Oceanside, Pennsylvania, and Florida.  Paul is a retired real-estate attorney.
